About
Dr. Shaw (she/her) is a family physician with special interests in sexual health, gender-affirming care, and end of life care. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Calgary in 2024. She earned her Doctor of Medicine with additional training in health equity from the University of Alberta in 2022. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with minors in Psychology and Physiology from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Shaw has published research and educational materials on topics such as caring for sexually and gender diverse patients, and health promotion in pregnancy. These works have been shared internationally through conference presentations and textbooks.
Her practice interests are largely driven by the principle of conscientious participation. She actively chooses to provide and advocate for services that Canadians have a right to, yet may have difficulty accessing due to limitations such as physician training and comfort, systemic barriers and social stigma. She is dedicated to providing inclusive, compassionate care.
In her spare time, she enjoys acrobatics, hiking, and playing (poorly) on several teams through Calgary Sport and Social Club.
